I have been hearing about the San Diego Zoo since Val and I got married. She was stationed in San Diego when she was in the Navy and visited the zoo regularly. She always said it was one of the finest in the USA and I think she may be right. We spent most of the day touring as much of the zoo as we could, however there was too much to see in one day. We must have taken hundreds of photos but as to not bore you we only present these as an appetizer.
Okapi The okapi /oʊˈkɑːpiː/ (Okapia johnstoni), is a giraffid artiodactyl mammal native to the northeast of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa. Although the okapi bears striped markings reminiscent of zebras, it is most closely related to the giraffe.

Fabulous photos! MB loves the sleeping gorilla. I like the first photograph of the toucan. Since it immediately follows a couple of your flower pictures, I was studying it to see what kind of flower it was…duh!
